the doing: a prescription for adam

the rebels discussed adams concerns around humans increased resistance to antibiotics due to them having been overprescribed, due primarily to the fact that the pharmaceutical industry prioritises treatment over prevention as it yields ongoing profit for them. in response the rebels devised an invisible performance to take place at a chemist with two performers discussing the problem of antimicrobial resistance.

the submission:

what overwhelms you?

“We are beginning to see illnesses that are showing resistance to treatment via antibiotics.”

why?

“Given the rate diseases are adapting vs the rate new antibiotics are being developed, I fear we could soon see the rise of many more untreatable illnesses causing widespread suffering and death.”

adam, 17.9.20.

the thinking:

what is the idea we are moving forward with?

future of healing is understanding the non-synthetic versions of things

end of addiction to cheap things.

the idea, responding to the unnecessary overuse of antibiotics

how can we do it?

go to collect real prescriptions but at the last minute decide to have a rest or water instead, go camping

“Now that I think about it, using antibiotics for this mild ailment will not only not help, but will contribute to the building of antibacterial resistance in disease-causing pathogens. Perhaps instead I will drink plenty of water and have a nap, followed by a walk through a park.”

where does it need to take place?

 a pharmacy

are there any legal implications to the activity?
