herding education for emma
the team attempted to herd the department of education like sheep outside of their main offices in perth.
the submission:
emma, 14.10.19.
the thinking:
what is the idea we are moving forward with?
why is education so slow at responding to and integrating changes into the curriculum that are in line with the world we live in now? in australia we are still in a situation whereby indigenous knowledge, language and history are undervalued, ignored or obscured in favour of a fake colonial narrative. often teachers find themselves at the front line of enquiry for young people, but are bound by curriculum or education policy. can we highlight the slow pace of education reform in a humerous but impactful way?
how can we do it?
a small action outside the education department offices during lunchtime that highlights a convoluted out-dated education system that is in need of leaders not followers.
can we wear sheeps heads and herd employees through a pointlessly complicated obstacle course
where does it need to take place?
education dept offices, perth.
are there any legal implications to the activity?
no tresspaaing on property – if asked to move on by security, do so.
tactic: walkout
