the doing: man baby tissues for paola
the table discussion centred around unnecessarily gendered products in supermarkets and how they served to perpetuate gender disparity. the rebels generated an overtly gendered box of tissues for manbabys and infiltrated a grocery store catalogue with their new product.
what overwhelms you?
The negation of the importance of the generational input by women in society broadly which includes the public and private realms, science and the arts. The usurped value system created through patriarchal conditioning by which we live, which is rooted in selected realties and concealed histories, once we begin to acknowledge all the narratives left behind we find that the position of women is actually one of importance, influence and coexistence on an equal footing. “different but equal.”
“I don’t personally, but I notice that I am aware of having to fight against it, or stand up against it. It is a veil that I am conditioned to carry which I don’t think I should have to. My mother was a strong and independent woman from her youth, as was my grandmother, I was fortunate to have strong female influences which shaped who I am and how I relate to a patriarchal system. I should not have to be ‘fortunate’ to feel like this.”

If we are putting anything in a supermarket there might be questions
